How to Use

The PLM break-in method.

For Carbon Brush Motors (Dash Series)

Step 01
Crush the nozzle tip
Slightly pinch the nozzle tip with pliers to control oil flow and prevent over-application.
Step 02
Measure baseline RPM
Record the new motor's RPM before application. This is your reference point.
Step 03
Apply the oil
Disconnect from power, apply oil to the commutator. Reconnect and verify RPM rises 1,000–3,000.
Step 04
Run at 3.0V — forward only
Use a stable DC power supply at 3.0V. Forward direction only. Watch RPM, not the clock. Stop when RPM plateaus.

For Copper Brush Motors (Tune Series)

Step 01
Crush the nozzle tip
Slightly pinch the nozzle tip with pliers to control oil flow and prevent over-application.
Step 02
Measure baseline RPM
Connect the motor and record baseline RPM at 3.0V before any oil application.
Step 03
Apply the oil — do NOT wash first
⚠️ Never wash the motor before applying oil. The factory-applied grease inside is essential. Apply 1–2 drops to the commutator through the cooling holes. Turn the shaft by hand to spread evenly.
Step 04
Run at 5.0V — forward & reverse
Run at approx. 5.0V for 5–10 minutes forward, then 5–10 minutes in reverse. Adjust voltage and time to your preferred method.
Step 05
Flush the brush dust
Flush copper dust from the commutator using additional break-in oil or a plastic-safe liquid cleaner at room temperature. Avoid aerosol types — they can cause condensation inside the motor.
Step 06
Final lubrication
Apply 1 drop of break-in oil to protect the freshly exposed copper surface from oxidation and maintain peak performance.
